August - Two family groups

During August 2011, two family groups of miniature portraits have been added to the collection, comprising seven portraits.

Four members of the Buchanan family of Ireland and Canada, including a miniature by Charles Robertson.

One of them, James Buchanan, was for many years the British Consul in New York and wrote an early book about the American Indians, for much more about the Buchanan family, see View
